Take Your Ritual With You: Simple Everyday Rituals for Summer

Summer brings open windows, stretched-out evenings, and looser schedules.  If you're like us, we spend more time out of the house, soaking in the longer daylight hours and the spontaneous invitations that come with the season.

It is a wonderful time of year, but it's also a time when our usual daily rhythms can get interrupted.  Without noticing, we can feel a little unmoored or disconnected from ourselves. You might be enjoying the season but still wondering how to feel grounded when every day looks a little bit different.

Why simple everyday rituals matter more in summer

When life gets more energetic and we're constantly on the go, it's easy to lose the small habits that usually anchor us. Habits matter.  We trade our quiet mornings for early departures and our structured evenings for late dinners outdoors. This shift is part of the joy of summer, but it can also leave your tank a little empty.

This is exactly when simple everyday rituals become incredibly valuable. They act as familiar touchpoints that help us stay connected to ourselves, even when our routines feel more unpredictable. A ritual doesn't tie you down. Instead, it gives you a safe, comforting place to land...like a little island of sanity!

Having these small markers during the day reminds our bodies and minds that we are safe and supported. Creating this little pause, even a few seconds, makes a big difference.  When you have these anchors in place, you can enjoy the spontaneity of the season without feeling like you are losing your footing.

What a ritual really looks like

If the word ritual makes you think of long, complicated ceremonies or hours of meditation, you can let that go. We won’t give you a massive to-do list but will show how to make plant-first habits simple, personal, and doable. A ritual in real life is simply a repeatable habit with an assigned meaning.

It doesn't need to be long or complicated to matter. It's the intention behind the action that makes it a ritual rather than just another chore. For example, it could be the way you intentionally breathe in a favourite scent before you start your car.  Or taking a moment to stop and feel the sun on your face with your eyes closed.  Or one of my favourites - holding my cup of tea in both hands and smelling it just before I take a sip.

These small, repeated actions help ground us....bring us back to ourselves.  They're not about doing things perfectly. They're quick - and selfishly just for us.  When we demystify the idea of a ritual, it becomes something we can easily weave into a habit we already have.

How to take your ritual with you

The best part about keeping things simple is that our rituals can become completely portable. We don't need to be sitting in a quiet, perfectly organised room to find a moment of peace. We can easily 'take it to go'.

I love the practical idea of keeping one simple, supportive item in your handbag or pocket. It might be a beautiful essential oil roller bottle that you apply to your wrists when you need a moment.  Or I often have a stone or crystal in my pocket to touch.  Having something tangible with you serves as a physical reminder to pause.

When you reach into your bag and find that familiar scent or object, it is a shortcut to your innermost thoughts. You can apply your oil, take a slow breath, and come back to yourself, whether you are sitting waiting in the car, navigating a crowded event or doing chores.  It is your little secret contract with yourself to stay connected, no matter where the day takes you.

If you're unsure where to start and want to build a few practical habits that actually fit your life, I would love to help. We take the guesswork out — pairing the right oils with your daily habits so they become second nature. The summer ritual we'll be doing between day and evening

One of the most beautiful in-between moments of summer is the transition from the busyness of the day into whatever your evening brings - whether that's a quiet night in or socialising with friends.  The light starts to shift and so often, we rush straight through this transition without acknowledging it.

A short ritual can help reset and mark that shift in a way that intentionally calms us and sets us up for the last chapter of the day.  This is how we tell our bodies that the busy part of the day is over and it's time to shift gears.  If you're someone who is constantly 'ON' or caring for others, this transition is crucial.

Your evening reset could be as simple as washing your face or spritzing it with a plant aerosol.  It could be changing into comfortable clothes or applying a calming scent to our neck and shoulders. These actions signal to your brain that we are restored for the evening ahead.

Choosing a scent that feels like summer to you

Scent is incredibly powerful because it is tied directly to our emotions and memories. Because scent is so evocative, choosing an aroma for your daily ritual can become a beautiful part of your seasonal rhythm. The right scent can transport you for a moment, like supercharging your batteries.

When choosing a scent for summer, explore what feels personal and familiar to you. You might be drawn to bright, uplifting citrus notes that reflect the sunshine, or maybe you prefer soft florals that remind you of a summer garden. There is no wrong choice, as long as it feels supportive to you.

Do not worry about getting it perfect. The goal is to find an aroma that makes your shoulders drop and brings a smile to your face. When you use pure plants to take care of yourself, that scent becomes a gentle companion that supports your emotional state throughout the day.

The beauty of everyday little rituals

The deeper purpose of a daily ritual is not just about having a nice smelling perfume or taking a few deep breaths. It is about the checking in with yourself.  When we are the ones holding everything together for our families, it's too easy to put our own needs at the very bottom of the list.

Assining meaning to these tiny moments creates steadiness.  We can support our emotional state and help us feel more like ourselves in the middle of hectic life. Isn't it nice to be reminded that we matter, and that our peace of mind is worth protecting?  Let's use these little tools and touchpoints to feel better.

Start with one small ritual and let it be enough

As you think about your days and the rhythms of this season, I encourage you to keep things simple. Don't try to implement five new habits all at once. Start with one small ritual and let it be enough.

Choose one moment in your day where you know you could use a little extra support, and add a simple, doable action to it. Maybe it is your morning shower, or the moment you get into your car. Attach your new habit to something you already do every single day.

Consistency matters so much more than complexity. When you take the pressure off and just commit to one tiny action, it quickly becomes second nature. Give yourself permission to start small, enjoy the process, and see how much lighter you feel as you move through your summer days.

Meet Jennifer Fisher

I used to struggle with finding balance amid the demands of caring for both teens and ageing parents while navigating my own health changes.  Trying to make healthy choices, I often questioned the role of external products and stress in my home and my family.

In my search for solutions, I discovered the power of essential oils - and something just clicked.  They transformed my approach to health and equipped me to help others embrace simple, sustainable lifestyle shifts.  That was more than ten years ago and I've never looked back.

Today, I work with women — especially those in the sandwich generation, caring for teens and ageing parents — who want simple, sustainable solutions that actually fit their lives. My work goes beyond oils. It's about plant-first habits, emotional wellness, and hormone support for a more joyful, connected life.

What I Help With
You’re not unwell, but you know you could feel better.  You’re health-conscious… but still wondering:
  • “Why am I suddenly dealing with skin issues or moods I’ve never had before?
  • “Is it my lotion? My stress? Do I need HRT — or is there another way?”
  • “How do I feel like me again?"
Here’s how I can help:

  • Essential oils for women over 40:  Oils can be life-changing when you know how to use them. I take the guesswork out — pairing the right oils with your daily habits so they become second nature.
  • Moon Cycles & Emotional Balance.  Each moon phase affects your energy, mood, and clarity. I offer intuitive, moon-aligned rituals — paired with oils — to help you feel more grounded and supported throughout the month.
  • Plant-First Habits for Teens & Young Adults:  Let’s raise the next generation to reach for a plant first
  • Caring for Ageing Parents:  If you’re supporting someone with dementia or chronic illness, I’ve walked that road too. Oils offer connection, dignity, and comfort — not just for them, but for you. I teach ways to use aromatherapy and gentle touch to make caregiving more loving and less exhausting.
Why Work With Me?
Because just like you, I’ve been there.  You’re juggling family, work, caregiving — and wondering when it’s your turn to feel well again.
I won’t give you a massive to-do list. I’ll show you how to make plant-based wellness simple, personal, and doable
I don’t just teach oils — I help you use them.

And if you're curious about creating income through this work, I’ll guide you with experience, integrity, and zero pressure.
I’m not anti-medicine. I’m pro-options. Let’s create more awareness, more autonomy, and more space for joy in your health journey.

If that’s you, get in touch—I’d love to help.
