- A time to reorient rather than reinvent

New Winter Ritual: The 5-Minute “Light & Stillness” Evening Reset

This is a brand new ritual we’ve been doing lately, and it has completely shifted our evenings.
The Ritual
Turn off all bright lights
Light one (unscented!) candle
Sit close to a window
Place a calming oil on the wrists (we love lavender, sandalwood or frankincense)
Close your eyes for 30 seconds and just breathe
It’s incredibly grounding and signals to your whole system that it’s time to soften.
And somehow — it feels like giving yourself back a little piece of the day. Try it once this week and see how you feel.
Jen: This ritual needs to bend around your own schedule. My desk is near my kitchen so after writing my priorities for the next day (i.e. the things I didn’t get done today), I turn off my desk lamp, light my candle in the nearby window, give thanks for all I DID get done today and just breathe.
This transition between work and evening allows me to be more present when I am preparing dinner and anticipating seeing my family. It gives me a much softer presence – not distracted by work or resenting the cooking…and I feel much more relaxed.
Maggie: I try to start my evening at around 5pm. I no longer have school-aged children at home, just University age/working children, who do not need my attention in the early evening. I am also out most evenings.
Around 4pm in the Winter I really start to slow down. The dark has that effect on me. Jen and I discussed how we could embrace the dark and have been practicing this ritual.
I like to go up to my study, there are always too many people in the kitchen where I work during the day and the top of the house is quieter.
I turn off the lights, my desk is by the window, so it is easy to look out of the window and light my candle. (I also like to smell frankincense by adding some to my wrists and inhaling or, putting on my diffuser).
This simple ritual seems to tap into a hidden Winter magic, allowing thoughts, dreams and future plans to surface. I keep a notebook with me so I can make a note of these if I want to. If I am at home for the evening, I keep my candle lit.
Soft Reset with the Full Moon In January

Full Moons for the beginning of 2026 all arrive at the very beginning of the month.
On 3rd January 2026, we welcome the Full Moon in Cancer. A Cancer Full Moon centres energy around home, family and feelings of inner wellbeing and security.
This gentle Cancer Full Moon asks: What can I change to help me to make 2026 feel more settled, gathering energy rather than draining it?
This Full Moon is perfectly timed at the beginning of the month to start this New Year with this important question using this Full Moon as a mind and body health status check!
Pay attention to your body's signals.
You may notice very clearly which relationships (chats or in person) nurture you, actually feel good to be in…and which do not.
Notice your body's responses. One good measure is our shoulders. How are they reacting?
Allow the energy of this moon to guide you to make subtle changes that align with your needs and make an agreement with yourself, to release what no longer serves you from 2025 and focus on what serves and nourishes you in 2026
Oils That Feel Emotionally Supportive During Quieter Months

Here are some of the most emotionally supportive essential oils for the quieter, slower energy of January, based on their aroma profiles, their traditional uses, and how people commonly experience them emotionally.
Winter brings a different quality of energy — slower, deeper, more reflective. It’s a season that invites us to soften, look inward, and tend to ourselves with greater care.
We will always encourage you to lean on your scent to support yourself emotionally and physically.

Recipe of the Month - Sore Throat Spray

Putting this recipe here as we’ve had many requests over the past few weeks to make this and it’s a must-have for any travel or crowded places this time of year.
It’s an excellent recipe using three oils from the Premium Starter Kit and works like magic on a sore throat to bring relief and to help expediate recovery from a cold! Win, Win!
How to make it:
- Put 5-10 drops of each oil (Thieves, Lemon and Peppermint) and a few crystals of sea salt into a 15ml glass spray bottle. (for a largerr bottle, increase oils to scale up)
- Top with distilled water (or boiled and cooled).
How to use it:
- Shake before use
- Spray in the back of your throat as often as needed. It’s strong – try to skip the lips and go straight into the throat.
- Resist the urge to drink water right away - just let it be for a minute or two
We hope this helps you begin your soft reset with curiosity for 2026
