June is the gateway to summer
This week we're talking about what to do when you're feeling the heat...

Recipe of the Month!
Let your essential oils come to the rescue. We don't just teach oils - we help you use them.
Here is a way to use two popular essential oils (that come in your premium starter kit) to bring comfort in an instant.
This simple spritz will be your favourite in the summer and all year if you need to cool off during sports or hot flashes.
How to make a Peppermint Cooling Spray
Ingredients
- 2oz distilled water
- 2 Tbsp distilled water
- 2 Tbsp vodka or witch hazel
- 4 drops each of Peppermint and Lavender Essential
How to make and use
- Add all ingredients to a spray bottle (ideally glass) starting with the Peppermint and Lavender Oils.
- Put on spray top and shake well to combine
- Spray on your neck, shoulders, belly, underarms... you name it! This simple recipe can help you stay cool on the hottest days.
- For added oomph, keep in the fridge and turbo charge your cooling
*Also- if that's not cutting it, you can try drinking a drop of peppermint in your water, massage a couple drops around your bellybutton (dilute with a drop of carrier oil), or massage a couple drops onto your neck or feet.
Let us know if you make this and how you like it! We'll be spritzing away.

June is the gateway to summer and gives us more time for the things we love
This week we're talking about Essential Oils for Travel...

We love to travel - don't you?
After years of overpacking (especially when it came to toiletries), we’ve embraced the "less is more" philosophy.
It’s not about bringing every comfort from home—it's about being prepared to make the most of wherever you’re headed.
That’s where essential oils (always travel-sized!) come in. Compact, versatile, and powerful, they’ve become our go-to companions for every journey.
We keep 5ml bottles in our hand luggage so they’re close at hand when we need them most.
Travel Essentials to Keep Nearby Wherever you Go
- Thieves+ is our #1 travel hero. Just a drop in the palms and on the wrists for immune support on the go. We even add a drop to hot water with lemon in-flight for a quick, comforting tea.
- Peppermint+ and Digize are both lifesavers for any tummy troubles while traveling. Fresh, cooling, and oh-so effective.
- Lavender+ is one we never leave home without it. Calming for the mind and body—perfect for jet lag or when you need a moment of peace. It’s a staple in our handbags year-round.
- Sacred Frankincense is an ultimate grounding oil. A drop on neck and wrists helps centre yourself during the chaos of car journeys, airports and long travel days.
- Thieves® Hand Purifier & Thieves Spray are game changing travel essentials for keeping hands and surfaces fresh and clean.
- Thieves® Vapour Rub is a new favourite addition! While we usually recommend this for the cooler months, we find it incredibly soothing on flights or public transport. A dab around the nostrils before take-off offers both comfort and protection from that dry, recycled air.
As always, just reach out if Maggie and I can help with anything.

June is the gateway to summer and in some creative accounting way, seems to give us more time for the things we love…including the magic of midsummer.
This week we're talking about...

Anyone who knows me, knows that I love this time of year. June, my favourite and birth month holds a special place in my heart.
This year we celebrate the Summer Solstice on Saturday 21 June at 3:41am. This wonderful day, the longest of the year, marks the end of Spring and the gateway to the Summer.
Being at its Northen-most point from the Earth's equator, the sun is directly overhead at noon at the Tropic of Cancer. This is the moment in the year with the most light, granting us the feeling of potential, in our physical, personal and spiritual realms.
The Solstice fosters gratitude for the earth's gifts, which we can see all around us.
How to mark the Summer Solstice
Traditionally, this day has been celebrated around the world, most notably in the UK at Stonehenge. We love to gather to celebrate, pause and reflect on what is flourishing in our lives. We give thanks for abundance and light. In Chinese Medicine, the Summer is represented by the fire element and the Heart. Therefore we focus on heart-centred intentions for the rest of the year and write them down. Sometimes we put a drop of oil on our paper and then on our wrists to energise our intentions with pure plant-based goodness.
Oils for the Summer Solstice
These oils evoke warmth, clarity, vitality and spiritual grounding.
- Frankincense - for spiritual connection and inner peace
- Citrus Oils - symbolic of sunshine and abundance
- Lavender - soothes the senses and balances the Fire energy
- Rosemary - for mental clarity
- Ylang Ylang - opens the Heart
- Cedarwood or Sandalwood - to anchor energy when connecting with the sun and the sky
Let us know which oils you choose. Last year, Jen chose Dreamcatcher and every time she smelled it, her three heart-centred intentions came to the front of her thoughts. Very powerful.
And here is a Summer Solstice Blend for your diffuser.

June is the gateway to summer, allowing us more time for the things we love…including the opportunity to take all of our favourite activities outside.
This week we're talking about...

Easing Sore Muscles After Overdoing It
Summer is a wonderful time to get outside and move your body, but sometimes the excitement of the season can lead to overdoing it.
If you find yourself with sore muscles after an active day, don't worry! We have some ‘GO TO’ oils we’ve relied on for years that actually work to help you feel like new.
Here's what we do to find relief!
This little beauty is designed to soothe fatigued muscles. This special blend includes Marjoram, Cypress, Basil, Lavender and Peppermint essential oils and has been useful for muscle spasms, sprains, bruises, migraines and sore muscles. It works by relaxing and calming tension in the muscles and feels refreshing to use. It’s great for those who prefer not to use Wintergreen but want to feel relief after a workout. Good news is it can also be helpful for headaches.
This blend comes in the Premium Starter Kit and is designed for things that hurt. It’s perfect to create a fast-acting, hot-cold sensation on skin and smells simultaneously cool and minty, as well as warm and spicy with a hint of citrus. It’s made with Bergamot, Clove, Copaiba, German Chamomile, Ginger, Xiang Mao and Peppermint. It’s a miracle worker for tight muscles and it soothes inflammation. We like to add it to Epsom Salts for a bath to sooth the whole body. It includes the naturally occurring constituent beta caryophyllene (from the Copaiba) which is a common cannabinoid and easily received by the body. Good news is the Bergamot (a citrus oil) has had the furocoumarin removed so there is no photosensitivity and you can use it while out in the sunshine. Interesting fact, it gets its blue colour (and name) from the German Chamomile.
Maggie’s favourite solution for discomfort on the body is the single oil Wintergreen (a key component in many medicines for pain relief). Warning - the market is flooded with synthetic Wintergreen so thank goodness Young Living’s is 100% pure, organic and distilled with love on the farm with no additives or short-cuts. Maggie creates her own soothing massage blend by diluting Wintergreen with V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex. This combination offers a warming effect that can be deeply satisfying for sore muscles. She loves this because she can cover as small or as large an area and massage it in.
Remember to always listen to your body and take time to rest when needed. Enjoy your summer activities with the confidence that Young Living's natural solutions are here to support your active lifestyle!
